PechaKucha Night Vol. 4, “There’s No Place Like Home: Joplin Benefit” will be held at RuBert Studio (1841 E. Bergman in Springfield) on Friday, September 23. The event will help raise money for Joplin tornado relief and will held at RuBert Studios, 1841 E. Bergman St.

The “No Place Like Home/Joplin” theme for PechaKucha Night Vol. 4 will not necessarily reflect the presentations–it’s simply advertising the evening as a fundraising event. Presenters have 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide to present their material, which makes for 6 minutes and 40 seconds of edifying entertainment. Featured presenters:

7 p.m. – Avery Snelson, M.C.
Carla Stine, artist
Christine Schilling, artist
Brandon Dake, AIA Springfield President
Jo Van Arkel, artist
Kat Allie, artist

8 p.m.: Intermission (20-30 min)
Russ RuBert, artist
Kate Baird, artist
Stephanie Cramer, artist
John Appleton, Posture Release Imagery

Despite the stuffy “presentation” moniker, PechaKucha’s atmosphere is casual and lax. The idea is to come away from the event with a greater perspective and richer ideas, but most importantly, to enjoy oneself in the process.

A requested $5 donation at the door will go to the Springfield chapter of the American Institute of Architects for their masterplanning services to help Joplin rebuild “smarter.” The event is entirely volunteer-based and sponsor-funded. For information contact pechakucha.spfd@gmail.com.
