Using nothing but antique hot irons and plastic sheeting, Art of Space is busy constructing huge inflatable art in a warehouse on Drury campus.

The plastic sheeting is cut, layered in origami-like folds, and then heat sealed using the irons. The finished piece will be installed at ArtsFest on May 5-6. It will cover an area about 30 x 40 feet, be inflated using big fans, and have doors so people can walk inside.

Art of Space is a collaboration of Drury students, faculty, alumni and members of the Springfield community who built the packing tape installation last spring in a vacant Park Central basement and organized the Nest Parade from C-street to Park Central Square in November, 2011.
