Highlights from the December 2nd First Friday Art Walk:
Boca Mocha at 320 Park Central West – art by Christie Snelson, Jane Troup, James Richardson, John L. Payne and Tyler Thrasher.
Canvas at 315 South Avenue – paintings by Tanya Johnston, an investigation into memory, identity and development of a personal mythology.
Creamery Arts Center at 411 N. Sherman Parkway – “Springfield x 3” exhibition features the works of three artist organizations: Visual Artist Alliance, Studio 55, and Springfield Plein Air.
Drury University Pool Art Center at 940 N. Clay St. – Preserving Art with Understanding: Art Historical Research and Conservation Training – an exhibit of objects curated and conserved from the MSU Meyer Library Special Collections. Artist Talk, 6-7 p.m. Friday December 2nd.
Fresh Gallery at 400 W. Walnut – paintings by John Payne and assemblage fiber art by Carol Penprase.
Good Girl Art Gallery at 325 E. Walnut St. – META by artist Kolmega Kalbfleisch, including a laser light show and synthesized sounds by DJ Johan, and Stories About Things by illustrator Kat Philbin.
Park Central Branch Library at 128 Park Central Square – presents Robert E. Smith: Springfieldian, Folk Artist, and Friend to All: A reminiscence of the man and his work by Carla Stine and Eric Pervukhin, co-editors of a book about the artist published by Moon City Press. 24 paintings on loan from private collectors will be on exhibit.
Obelisk Home at 214 W. Phelps – “Jane’s Fantastic World of Nature” a new show featuring the delightful, whimsical work of the renowned artist Jane Troup.
Revel Advertising at 214 W. Phelps – “Sublime Intervention” by painter Gavyn Sky
Springfield Pottery at 416 S. Campbell Ave. – Annual Artists in Residence Holiday Show and Sale featuring hand made pottery from Springfield Pottery’s staff, interns and artists in residence.
