Center City university galleries open the fall semester to join other downtown venues to offer 22 locations for the Labor Day weekend kickoff Art Walk on Friday, September 2, 6-10 p.m. Highlights include:
Canvas, 315 South Avenue – Rhonda Simon’s Wind in Motion sculptures made from plastic sheeting, bags and fans, Eric Vaughn’s Living Art, Live Jazz by MSU students, and the final showing of Animals of Eden created for the Springfield Little Theatre’s June production of Children of Eden
Creamery Arts Center, 411 N. Sherman Parkway – Civil War seen through the eyes of Springfield 5th graders and 8th graders, sponsored by the 2011 Missouri Literary Festival: The Civil War
DB Design Salon & Art Gallery, 326 S. Campbell – recent paintings by Debra Sutherland
Drury University Pool Art Center, 940 N. Clay St. – Mike Dickey’s one-man show “Inviting the Bell to Sing”
Good Girl Art Gallery, 325 E. Walnut St. – Nate Ferree’s epic tale fired in clay, “A Monument to the Pirate Robot Who Saved the People of Earth”
OTC Fine Art Gallery, 325 Park Central East, Third Floor – mixed-media paintings by Isaac Karner and Live Jazz by MSU students
Park Central Branch Library, 128 Park Central Square – featured artist Jodie Laravee and Desiree Dixon’s art talk “La Galerie des Glaces: The Imagery of the Sun King”
Revel Advertising, 214 W. Phelps – tasting of craft beers of O’Fallon Brewery, Live Jazz by MSU students, and paintings by Stephanie Cramer.
