Drury University architecture professor Gerard Nadeau, Drury University art and architecture students, and community volunteers created a construction of woven irrigation tubing called The Nest as part of an ongoing series of project by the Art of Space.

Inspired in part by Drury graduate Doug Johnston, who creates works of art people can occupy, The Nest project took several weeks to build the construction using zip ties to connect the tubing as it took shape on an wooden armature. Once The Nest was complete, the armature was removed, allowing The Nest to moved, rolled, or lined with pillows stuffed with shredded newspapers.

On Friday, November 4, 2011, Art of Space took to the streets of Springfield, Missouri, rolling The Nest down Boonville Street, from C-Street to Park Central Square to the surprise hundreds of people downtown during the monthly First Friday Art Walk. It nested there for all to perch, nap, and visit in for the next several days.
